"A good orator is pointed and impassioned." - Marcus T. Cicero
Role: Grammarian
More Roles
The Grammarian listens for proper use of language. You may choose to concentrate on one particular aspect of language, such as double negatives or redundancies and report on that aspect alone. Or you could listen for run-on sentences, switches in tense, or errors with singular and plural. As Grammarian, you decide what approach to take during the meeting. Inform the members of your choice when you are introduced.
Word of the Day
The Grammarian is in charge of the “Word of the Day.” Choose an uncommon word: something that is underused or perhaps one that is often misused. Introduce the “Word of the Day” at the beginning of the meeting: provide the correct spelling, a definition, and an example of correct use in a sentence. Challenge the club to use it properly in speaking roles. Keep track of those who use it properly during the meeting and comment on their uses during your report at the end.
